The Meet-cute
Austen and Maia met in January 2022 via the popular app Hinge… After Maia’s remarks on how much she loved the way Austen had described one of his favourite songs the conversation bloomed. However they couldn’t meet at first due to the great and terrible COVID. After a week of talking day and night the tests were negative and they could finally meet.
Their First Date
The day had come! They purchased ASDA’s finest sushi and adjourned to Maia’s house to watch Peter Jackson’s masterpiece The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. From there, they were inseparable.
The Adventures
They have shared adventures of their own from living together in Nunney to then their first flat, Italy not once but twice, Disneyland Paris, weekends in London with friends and to the land of all things whimsical Tintagel, Cornwall.
The Engagement
After a sleepy drive to Stansted Airport at 3am they boarded the plane to Pisa Italy. For the entire flight Austen slept soundly as Maia wept from the images in her head of the plane plummeting to earth. To Maia’s surprise, they landed safely. Austen arose from his tranquil slumber ready for the next stage of the journey.
Next, they hauled ass to a train bound for Lucca, the historical walled City. All the while, a small box was burning a hole in the pocket of Austen’s suitcase. Not without difficulty, they arrived at their Villa. They began searching for a local shop to buy produce from the area.
After filling their bellies with Italian meats and cheeses and more Aperol than you could possibly spritz. They went to bed.
The next morning, after their long and testing journey, they settled on a cozy day in the villa to recover. In the afternoon heat, adorned in her copper bikini, Maia was strewn over a sun lounger swirling an Aperol spritz with her right hand, and holding a book in her left. Austen thought to himself “Right she is here now, how the hell am I going to do this?”. Heart beating out of his chest, in his finest Mandalorian t-shirt and red swimming trunks, he came to lounge with her…
Maia began reading aloud while they cuddled up on the tiny yellow sun lounger. As she shuffled to adjust, her leg knocked against the little box now burning a hole in Austen’s red trunks. He panicked but quickly eased as he realised now was the perfect time.
